 Cougars Continue to Shine at Shamrock Rumble 
(1/6/08)

A small but mighty group of Jr. Cougars wrestled this past weekend in the Shamrock Rumble at St. Patrick High School.  The day was highlighted by an impressive come-from-behind overtime victory for Robbie Seredi over a tough experienced opponent to capture the title.  Bobbly Alexander ran his season record to an impressive 14-1 by recording three more victories on his way to the title.  Mitchell Alexander thundered through the tournament and ran his season record up to 12-2.  Congratulations to Robbie, Mitch and Bobby on another impressive showing.

Vince Greco continues his fine first season with a runner-up finish at the Rumble. Tyler Futris and Danny Schram each turned in third place performances.  Brian Rossdeutcher registered two victories and landed fifth place.  Bubba Kooy pulled off a major decision and captured sixth place.  Logan Kooy and Sean Coltrin also showed well at the Rumble.

 Junior Cougar Crown Multiple Champions at the Classic 
(12/23/07)

Congratulations to parents and wrestlers on another successful Junior Cougar Classic.  The Junior Cougars hosted over 450 wrestlers at the annual event. Special thanks go out to all the parents who contributed to the Gatorade Drive, helped with set-up, worked the concession stand, ran bout sheets, worked security, manned the front door, or worked the tables at the tournament.  All of your effort is truly appreciated.

On the mats, the Cougars had a big day.  Twenty three Cougars entered the tournament and ten were crowned champions.  Jacob Lytton continued his fine season with another undefeated day.  Cormac Kane pinned two opponents on the way to his first tournament championship.  Tyler Futris won a tight first bout before pinning his finals opponent to capture the title.  Brian Rossdeutcher turned in three impressive victories on the day to claim the title.  Danny Andress also brought a championship medal with three wins on the day.  Bobby Alexander continued to batter the competition with three more pins on the day.  Robbie Seredi was equally impressive with two pins and a 12-1 major decision.  Logan Kooy continued to raise eyebrows with an impressive tournament title.  Cole Reyes registered two falls and a decision to win the event.  Finally, Vince Greco registered two falls to come from behind and capture his first tournament title. Congratulations to each of your first place medals!

Five additional wrestlers narrowly missed tournament titles and secured second place finishes.  They were Tyler and Lucas Schneider, Franco Greco, Matthew Peisker, and Travis Sylvester.

Danny Schram, Justin Mpistolarides and Mitchell Alexander each finished in third.
  Bailey Morales, Anthony Greco, Case Kooy, Sam Lytton, and Danny Madonia each battled to fourth place finishes.

 Success at the Shark Frenzy 
(12/16/07)

The Junior Cougars put forth another outstanding effort this past weekend at the Maine East Shark Frenzy.  Fifteen cougars competed with five wrestlers earning a spot in the finals.  Mitchell Alexander remained unbeaten on the season capturing the title with a fall and two convincing victories.  Congratulations Mitchell on a fine start to the season.

Logan Kooy made some noise in his first tournament action of the season.  Logan finished in second place.  Robbie Seredi and Bobby Alexander each registered two more falls on their way to second place finishes.  Cole Reyes continues his impressive season with a strong second place showing.

A trio of first year wrestlers impressed the coaches with third place showings. Sean Coltrin captured third place in his first ever competition.  Franco Greco continued his tough wrestling and captured third place with two pins on the day. Tyler Futris continued his assault on the 8 and under division.  Tyler finished in third place.  Outstanding job Sean, Tyler and Franco!

Brian Rossduetcher and Anthony Greco continued to wrestle well and brought home fourth place medals.  Danny Schram registered a pin and captured fifth place.  Matt Peisker also battled hard to a fifth place finish.  Danny Madonia continued to wrestle rough with a sixth place showing.

Vince Greco wrestled two outstanding bouts and Bubba Kooy showed well in his two bouts to complete a fine day of wrestling for the Jr. Cougars.

 Junior Cougars Roar at MadDog Invitational 
(12/9/07)

Eight Cougars brought home first place honors from the Maddog Winter Invitational.  Anthony Greco delivered two decisive victories to capture the title in his first ever tournament.  Tyler Futris continued to impress with three dominant wins to capture his first title.  Danny Andress registered a fall in his final bout of the day to earn the championship.  Robbie Seredi returned to the championship podium by dominating three opponents.  Bobby Alexander remained unbeaten on the season with another 3-0 day.  Mitchell Alexander also maintained his perfect record with three more victories to capture the crown.  Cole Reyes returned to the mat in fine form with a perfect day and a title.  Finally, Travis Sylvester returned to competition and did not disappoint with two falls and a tournament title.
Congratulations to our eight champions on a job well done!

Several cougar wrestlers joined these eight wrestlers in the finals and earned second place medals.  Capturing runner-up honors were Jacob Lytton, Scotty Gurke, Danny Madonia, and Matt Peisker.

Vince Greco, Danny Schram, Franco Greco, and Bubba Kooy all battled to third place honors.  Finally, Lucas Schneider, Sam Lytton, and Tyler Schneider each earned fourth place medals at the Invite.

 Junior Cougars Impressive At Lancer Invitational 
(12/2/07)

Twelve Junior Cougar wrestlers kicked off the tournament season this past weekend at the Lancer Invitational.  Four Cougars brought home the title.

Congratulations to Jacob Lytton. Jake was undefeated on the day and brought home the first place medal.  Brian Rossdeutcher returned to the championship podium as well with three victories on the day.  Mitchell Alexander dominated his competition on the day recording three pins in three matches to earn the title. Not to be outdone, Bobby Alexander also thundered through his competition pinning each opponent on his way to the title.  Congratulations Jake, Brian, Mitch, and Bob!

Four additional Cougars wrestled thier way to second place medals.  Tyler Futris was fearless in his first ever tournament.  He took home the second place medal after a wild and wooly finals match.  Franco Greco was equally impressive in his first ever tournament.  Franco finished in second place and registered a fall on the day.  Robbie Seredi turned in three outstanding matches and brought home second place.  Robbie also delivered a fall in his first bought.

Vince Greco was also impressive.  Wrestling for the first time in a Junior Cougar singlet, Vince delivered a third place performance with a dominant 12-1 victory. Danny Schram recorded an impressive fall on the day and earned a third place medal.  Sam Lytton turned in a third place performance winning a major decision on the day.  Matt Peisker wrestled well all day and earned a fourth place.  Finally, Ricky Stanton battled tough competition all day earning a fourth place medal.

Congratulations to each Junior Cougar wrestler on a very impressive start to the 07-08 season.  Keep up the good work!


JOIN THE JUNIOR COUGARS WRESTLING CLUB 

Join the Junior Cougars Wrestling Club.  Learn wrestling fundamentals, develop confidence, discipline, fitnesss, and have a great time.  Instruction levels include beginner, intermediate, and advanced.  Everyone ages 6-14 eligible.  Fee: $125 per athlete. (print registration form)

Practices will be held every Monday and Wednesdays and most Thursdays from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. with the first practice starting on November 12th at Conant High School.  Regular season goes from November to March.
